Sadly i got banned on tonymacx86.com for the mentioning of 'Pandoras Box' in this tutorial (reason: 'Blatant Disregard of Forum Policies on Piracy'). Thats why i post and update it here Dell XPS 15 (9550, Version of 2016) Sierra 10.13.1 Tutorial 541.82KB 99 downloads Please use the version of this text, because this tutorial got too fragmented for a simple forum thread - thanks to the latest Dell Firmware 1.2.25 which requires multiple different versions and tutorials and made the installation of OSX much harder for newbies Before we start: this installation includes real time DSDT/SSDT patching from within clover.
This is pretty easy to install. But it is NOT suited for people with no or only few knowledge in Hackintosh Systems. If you only know how to copy commands in your shell and you dont know what they're doing, then stop the tutorial and revert to windows or buy a real mac. Even if you get it running: this system is not failsafe and will be broken multiple times in its usage time, where you have to fix it without a tutorial. Optional steps are marked in GREEN, System dependent steps are BLUE English is not my mother-tongue and i'm writing this without proof reading, so please forgive my bad spelling If you've questions or something doesn't work: first check if you've done all steps of this tutorial! If yes: please read the whole thread (doesn't matter how long it is) before asking to prevent multiple questions. Additionally do a search in google and this forum.

Step 1: Prepare Installation Use the existing Mac to download the Sierra installer from the App Store and create a bootable USB stick with CLOVER.
You can do this with the App 'Pandora's Box' of insanelymac (use google for download link), which is pretty easy to use. Optional: check if your SSD can be switched to 4k sector size. This prevents NVMe corruption. See After you've finished you need to download the Dell XPS 15 specific configurations for clover.

3899 doesnt have native nvram support, but the nvram emulator works. Your external hdd problem sounds more like a power consumption problem.
Did you check that the controller used in this hard drive advertises itself for higher power submission? Most cheap controllers dont do it properly and require an Y USB cable. Just tried by myself with two different 2,5' external HDDs (one original apple oem sata drive in an enclosure ) and it worked fine. I use a external hdd box with usb3.0 output and works fine in windows and fine in 10.11.x but can't work properly in 10.12.x and i found it may be need additional current. However when i plug in the box when start up it works fine but when i plug off and plug in again it disappear again and it very strange. Ps:my external hdd box is standard usb port and it can't use Y USB cable.

General Support Dell support on Twitter: Dell product support:. So I haven't gotten into the deep system patching to make everything work as per the guide yet. It's a little complicated. However from first boot I will say that almost everything just works. It's really cool in fact I feel as if after tweaking a lot, it'll be faster than a MacBook pro. Battery life is claimed as about 6 hours on the 84 whr model. It takes a lot of work.
Hackintosh has a very steep learning curve (especially since this laptop is pretty new). Be sure you have a solid backup and a few days on hand before you try it.
I have a dell xps 15-L502X laptop, I'm trying to install Mac OS on it! I've tried installing OS after watching several videos, It kinda worked but not all the way, I love the idea of it and I hope I could get it working all the way!! So I installed mavericks first but I had no audio or wifi but It worked! I had to leave the bootable U.S.B plugged in to get back into the OS, as the boot loader was just not working kept saying 'boot error 0' did research on that apparently it happens on old HHD's!
And also found out that Intel wifi card I've in the laptop is not compatible! Anyhow fast forwarding today I bought the corsair SSD and I found an old wifi pci adapter (Apple Atheros AR5BXB112 AR9380) from an old Apple computer I don't know which exact model it's from but I could use if it have chances of working!
If you guys can help on how to properly and fully installing the OS it'd be a great help!! Below are the specs of my laptop!! DW1560 on the way from China to US so who knows how long. The trackpad worked for a split second and then froze. I plugged in a mouse and that worked. On the reboot of installation it works all of a sudden seemingly fine but nothing to click on. Currently using rehab mans 620 config, voodoo ps2, and fakesmc. Added piker's nvme patches to config list for my Samsung PM961 512GB nvme.
I'll try to keep somethings updated here if you wanna join in and help. Update 1: Installed.
Currently only using my Clover folder copied to HD. Using SMBIOS 9,1.
CPU shows as 2.81 Quad-Core Xeon, ram picks up correctly. Trackpad worked for a couple minutes then stopped. I pressed a bunch of buttons.

It worked again then stopped but seems like it's still functional as something is a mess. I plugged in my mouse but it thinks I'm constantly holding down the left click. I'll have to figure this out first b/c without working trackpad, a hack will be pointless for me. Surprisingly brightness keys work out of the gate. Using SMBIOS 9,1.

Hello everybody, Preambule: I'm a French old guy, practicing IT since 1981, I 'm trying to use my best English, but you know that frogs are not so good in Sheakespeare Langage. And thank you all for all your help for others on this good site. A few weeks ago, I bought a marvelous machine, a Dell XPS 15 with the new HQ screen (3200x1800 and touchable). I would like to use it for developpement in Android and perhaps for IOS. I manage to install Ubuntu on it in Daul boot with Windows 8.1. I did it quite well, but it took me 1 or 2 weeks to make it work well. Now I'm trying to install OS X on it, but after a lot of difficulties, I finally make it.
But not completely. I've tried other way than MyHack to install Mavericks: Clover and T.(self censured). With the 2nd one, I was able with a USB drive to boot and to install Mavericks on 2 different drives: - One on the 1 To Hard drive on a HPS+ partition I made before 50 Go (the same drive wher Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 are installed with UEFI boot) -Another one on the 32 Go SSD drive to be sure not to have any conflict with Windows (MBR or thinks like that / i think there is no MBR as it boot on UEFI) Impossible to boot: I always have troubles. I will explain the troubles, but first of all, I must say that I also had problem with the install USB drive: immediate reboot after trying to load the installer: - I had to patch the machkernel with a perl script indicated by and I don't really know if it was correct (I only use the first script, and that's all). It was the only way to be able to make this installer works with also -x -f flags (installer was made with Mountain Lion to install Mavericks) As indicated in this previous topics, immediatly after installing, I changed the machkernel of my drives with the one which allowed me to boot with the installer. But it has never worked.
Finally, coming on insanelymac, I manage to use your tool to try to make an install. As explained on the MyHack topic, I made a USB drive with a.dmg file from Mountain Lion.
I the tried to boot with it and arrive a the level where we have to choice the drive to use. I tried to use different flags, but nothing worked. I decided to try to change the machkernel with the one used on my other USB drive (made with Uni.) and to test it. And if I try to boot with my SSD partition I installed before, I get the same kind of result. Here are the things I get: Boot options: nothing. I don't really know what I am doing, and what I have to do first. Is ther anyone who can help me, orienting me where to begin.
The only thing I undestand is that it seems ther is somme USB issues. But how to solve this out, do I have to change the kernel, to boot with another flag. Is it a good thing to have patched the machkernel?
To finish my laptop: - DELL XPS 15 9530 motherboard: DELL - DDR3 SD-RAM 16 Go Chipset: Haswell Processor: i7-4702HQ @ 2.2 GHz HDD 1 To SSD 32 Go RAM Mouse: external 3 USB 3.0 ports 1 USB 2.0 port 2 graphic Cards: Intel HD4600 + NVidia GeForce GT 750 M (dont know how it switches from one to the other!) - Thanks for anyone that can help. Hoping that it will also help the future owners of this splendid machine. Sorry if you can't see the pictures details, I thought it was possible to watch the original. Bien le bonjour! Hello, sorry to be long to answer.
I must admit that I gave up with all of this at the moment, because it seems to me too complicated. I'm not able to answer to your question, as I don't know how to make the settings for that (I didn't see anything in the BIOS for that) It seems to me so difficult to find a simple procedure to test what ktest files are needed or not, and I don't find anything very clear about this on the web. (I think that, as I am able to start up with -x, it would be possible to check one by one the different kext files, but it impossible to do: too long) So at the moment, I give up. Thanks a lot for your answer.
